Retiring Minds Want to Know
Will the money I have saved for the best years of my life be enough?
That depends. Enough for what? Enough for basic needs like a place to live, food to eat, utilities? Retirement is about living, and to put a number on “enough,” you need to imagine how you want to live. For most retirees today, that’s vastly different than their parents’ retirement years.
· Do you want to travel? Domestic or Aboard?
· Do you want to help your grandchildren with educational costs?
· Do you want to own a summer/winter second residence?
· Does your retirement hobby have extra costs associated with it?
· Do you want to leave a charitable legacy behind?
The length of retirement has changed as well. Because of advances in health people are living longer than ever before. With longer, fuller lives come a necessity to plan for more retirement income.
How long will you need income?
As of 2017, the average life expectancy in the U.S. is 78.6 years. Thus, people enjoy longer lives.

So how do you get enough? You start by imagining everything you want to do in retirement. You prioritize those dreams, and you plan how to allocate your financial resources so the next phase of your life is all about living it.
